Community Connections and New Activities

Painting art activity in care home

We’re excited to share some of the wonderful activities taking place here at Guthrie House Care Home in Edinburgh. Recently, we have introduced several new initiatives to enrich our residents' daily lives. Our Movement Mornings encourage gentle exercise and promote well-being, while our Sensory Experiences offer calming and stimulating sessions tailored to individual needs. Regular Cinema Screenings bring the big screen experience into the home, and our much-loved Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Clubs provide relaxed spaces for conversation, laughter and friendship.

We’re also proud to be building stronger links within our community. Young people from a local school have been visiting to spend time with residents, enjoying games, singing and socialising together. These intergenerational visits have brought smiles to everyone involved.

Looking ahead, we are planning themed Cultural Days, woodwork workshops, the development of a Residents’ Committee, and more outings, including trips to the garden centre, the beach and the cinema.

Creating meaningful, person-centred experiences remains at the heart of what we do, and we look forward to making many more special memories together.
