Making March Memorable at Guthrie House

Here at Guthrie House Care Home in Edinburgh, March has seen the introduction of many new activities, all carefully designed to enhance the wellbeing of our residents.

Making Voices Heard

We know how important it is that our residents feel listened to and valued, which is why we’ve launched a new initiative called “You Said, We Did”. This gives residents the opportunity to suggest activities and events they’d like to take part in, and we’ve already had some incredible ideas.

The first request was dressmaking sessions, which has already been embraced enthusiastically by those most eager to express their creativity. Residents and staff have been working together to begin a beautiful new design, showcasing the brilliant teamwork, cognitive stimulation and imagination happening at Guthrie House.

Mother’s Day

Other creative activities such as flower arranging were particularly popular this month, helping to decorate our home for Mother’s Day. Seeing their creations brighten up our home gave residents are valuable sense of purpose and pride.

These seasonal celebrations also help to keep our residents engaged and connected to their community outside our home. We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea, reminisced about our favourite family memories and embraced the warm and appreciative environment.
